Hoot: Much Better Than the Last Book I Read

Posted by Zemora under Book Review

Summer is time to relax and have fun. Its also a great time to read a good book. So far this summer I have completed reading the book Hoot by Carl Hiaasen. This book was great, it kept me interested, and was very enjoyable. I found it interesting because the previous book I read was going nowhere. The story painfully dragged on with no point. Hoot, on the other hand, had an interesting story line and captured my complete attention. Hoot made me want to save the owls and discover the identity of the mysterious person who kept vandalizing the Mother Paula’s construction site. Like most books that turn into movies, the movie is nothing like the book. Therefore, if you have to read the book for a class this summer, do it because you won’t get by for just seeing the movie.

I agree, Hoot was a really good book. Totally with you on the fact that if you are reading it for school, READ THE BOOK. It rocks. Also, iff anyone is looking for some good summer reads (besides Harry Potter of course) the tale of the mediator is a series by Meg Cabot. I know she is often tagged as being an author who writes love stories with happy endings and these do have her signature romance in them but they are also interesting stories about a girl who can talk to the dead.

I thought Carl Hiassen did a good job with making you feel the point of view of the characters in Hoot. I could really see where they were coming from when they made decisions. It wasn’t one of those books where you were yelling “Now why did they do that! Clearly this would have worked better!” while you are reading. Good book all around.
